MATERIALS

Worsted-weight yarn -2 Oz, Light Green , Red (optional) , and Grey
                                       4 oz Black
For Features: Crewel wool (or you can substitute embroidery floss) approx. 1 yard black. , 12" red
F crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry and embroidery needle;
Red nail polish
Polyester Fiber fill

SKILL LEVEL: Advanced

SIZE: 8 1/2" tall with hat on.

GAUGE: After 4 rows circle should measure 1 7/8" in circumference. (gauge not real important as long as it's consistent)

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

sc next 2 sts tog: Single Crochet next 2 single crochets together as follows:   (Insert hook in next st and pull up a loop) twice, YO and
 pull yarn through both loops . You now have one single crochet where there used to be two single crochets.

Tog : together

DIRECTIONS - use F hook and Light Green

Head & Body

NOTE: Do not join rnds. Single crochet tightly. Mark beginning of each round.

Rnd 1: Starting at Head, with tan, Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd Ch from hook (6 sc).

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around (12 sc).

Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around (18).

Rnd 4: (Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around (24).

Rnd 5: (Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) around (30).

Rnds 6-11: Sc in each st around.

Rnd 12: (Sc in each of next 3 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around (24).

Rnd 13: (Sc in each of next 2 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around (18).

Rnds 14-15: Sc in each st around. Start stuffing head. - Do not fasten off

Neck

Rnd 16: (Sc next 2 sts tog) around (9).

Rnds 17: Sc in each st around. (9) Note : you can skip this rnd if the neck seems too thin

Body

Rnd 18: 2 sc in each st around (18) Continue stuffing as you proceed

Rnd 19: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around (27).

Rnds 20-27: Sc in each st around. Stuff

Underpants - Attach Grey

Rnds 28-33: Sc in each st around. (27) Stuff and sew rnd 33 closed

Legs - make 2

Using Grey (Or you can do one rnd of red alternating with one rnd of grey in Rnds 1-16), Ch 10 , sl st in first ch to form a circle

Rnds 1-16: Sc in each st, ending sl st in first st if you're alternating Red and Grey stripes (10)

SHOE: Attach Black:
Rnds 17-23: Sc in each st sl st in first st(10)

Shoe Toe - Note: you may want to sl st to front of leg before starting Rnd 24 so the toe will be positioned at the best place.
I made about 3 sl sts so the leg joining would land in the back.
Rnds 24: 2 dc in each of next 3 sts, hdc in next, sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in last st (14 sts)
Rnds 25: Hdc in next 2 sts, (3 dc in next st) twice, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in remaining sts (18)
Rnds 26: Hdc in next 4 sts., (3 dc in next st) twice, hdc in next 4 sts, sc in rem sts (22)

Heel
Rnds 27: Skip 15 sts, sl st in 16th st on rnd 26, sc in same st as sl st ,sc in next 6 sts, (heel made - 7 sts)
Rnds 28: Skipping sl st, sc in each st. on the heel (7) Fasten off

Sole of Shoe
Go back to Rnd 26 of shoe. Working in back loops of unworked sts on Rnd 26, (sc next 2 sts tog) around. Finish off with one
sc in last st.
Stuff leg and shoe. Sew bottom of sole and heel closed

Fold Row 1 of leg flat, & sew both sides of leg together. Sew both legs to bottom of underpants on Row 33.

ARM and HAND-- make 2 Note: Always sl st into the back hump of the chain

Using Green Ch 8 , sl st in first ch to form a circle

Rnds 2-12: Sc in each st (8)
Rnd 13: Sc in each st , sl st in first sc (8)

Hand
Rnd 14: (2 sc in 1st st, sc in each of next 7 sts. (9)
Rnd 15: Sc in each st , sl st in first st.
Rnd 16: Ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, sl st in first sc, hold 2 sides of arms tog, sc in next 4 sts catching both sides of hand, ch 3, turn
Row 17: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, & in 1st ch st, (sc in next st, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs,)3 times, sl st in last st . Stuff arm lightly and sew arms to both sides of body over rnds 19 and 20 with thumbs pointing towards the front. If desired, using red nail polish, paint red nails on each hand

DRESS Using Black
Row 1: Ch 21, sc in 2nd ch and in each st , ch 1, turn.(20). DO NOT FINISH OFF

   you will now be dividing the top of the dress and doing each piece separately as follows:

Back of Dress - Side 1 over 4 sts
Row 2: 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts , ch 1, turn leaving rest of sts unworked. (5)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.(6)
Row 4: Sc in each st. Finish off (6)

Front of Dress over next 6 sts after skipping 3 sts
SKIP 3 sts. Go back to Row 1:
Row 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st , ch 1, turn.( leave rest of sts unworked (8).
Row 3-4: 2 sc in first st, sc in each st until last st, 2 sc in last st , ch 1, turn omitting ch1 in Row 4.( leave rest of sts unworked (10,12 sts). Finish off and sew in ends

Back of Dress Part 2 - Side 2 over next 4 sts after skipping 3 sts
SKIP 3 sts. Go back to Row 1:
Row 2: Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn.( (5)
Row 3: ch 1, sc in each sc until last st, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn.(6)
Row 4: Sc in each st. DO NOT Finish off (6)

Remaining Dress - Note: ch 1, turn at end of each row
Row 5: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 5, ch 4, sc in next 12 sts on front, ch 4, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in last st. (34 sts)
Row 6: ch 1, sc in each st increasing 2 sts evenly anywhere in the front of the dress (36 sts)
Rows 7-9: Rep Row 6 (38, 40 , 42 sts at end of Row 9)
Rows 10-20: ch 1, sc in each st (42 sts)
Row 21: Rep Row 6 (44 sts)
Rows 22-24: ch 1, sc in each st (44 sts) Finish off, sew up back of dress

SLEEVES  - Make 2
Rnd 1: Work 15 sc evenly around the armholes
Rnds 2 - 12: Sc in each st around (15 sts)

COLLAR ON DRESS -Using Grey yarn or red yarn

With top of dress towards you, and working in chain foundation, sc in next 7 sts around top of dress, hdc in next st, 2 dc in next st, sl st in next , 2 dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next 8 sts

With Grey or Red, embroider two French knots on the front of the dress

WITCHES HAT -- Using Black Yarn

Rnd 1: Ch 35, sl st in 1st ch to from a ring. Sc in each ch , sl st in first sc (35 sts)

Rnds 2 - 8: Sc in each st decreasing 3 sts evenly across the rnd, sl st in first st (14 sts at end of Rnd 8 or 32, 29, 26, 23, 20, 17 14 sts )

Rnds 9 - 13: Sc in each st decreasing 2 sts evenly across the rnd, sl st in first st (4 sts at end of Rnd 13) or (12,10,8,6,4 sts at end of each row)

Rnds 14: Sc in first sc, finish off. Stuff hat loosely if needed.

BRIM OF WITCHES HAT

With top of hat facing you, go back to 1st row or foundation chain:

Rnd 1: Working in front loops only, (Sc in next 4 chs, 2 sc in next ) around , sl st in first st (42 sts)

Rnd 2: (Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st ) arnd ending sl st in first st (48 sts)

Rnd 3: (2 sc in next st , sc in next 6) around ending sl st in 1st st. (fasten off. With red yarn, Embroider or make chain stitch edging all around the hat above the brim.

FEATURES

Eyeballs: (Make 2)
With 3 strands of black embroidery thread or 1 strand crewel wool / black -

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 8sc in 2nd ch from hook, leaving a long tail , sew to face

Eyes are placed between Rounds 8-9 about ½ inch apart

NOSE - Using Green

Rnd 1: ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook

Rnd 2: Sc in each sc( 4)

Rep Rnd 2 until nose measures 1" long.

Sew nose to center of face. If desired, using green yarn, embroider a French knot on the nose for a "wart".

MOUTH

With 4 strands of red embroidery thread or one strand of crewel wool, embroider a wide fly stitch under nose.

HAIR

Cut 100 strands of black into 11 ½ " long strands. Going under the scs along the top of head, insert hook around the scs, fold black yarn in half, pull up a loop , pull the opposite 2 ends thru the loop (like making a tassel) tighten. Repeat along top sides and back of head on first 3 rnds. Then skip 1 rnds and keep fringing on the next Rnd until hair is desired thickness. Trim ends. Sew hat to top of head
